Itinerary

  • Duration: 06 Nights/ 07 Days
  • Best Time: September to October
Day

You have to know your complete journey before you start the trek. Start from Leh ( 3.505m), you take a jeep and reach the Tso Moriri Lake (4.530m). The journey is going to be of 7- 8 hours. The duration is long but you get to see very beautiful scenes. You also get to see lake Tarsang Tso. Korzok village is situated on the river Tso Moriri. In Korzok village, you get to see a monastery and also climb the hill. When you reach on the top, you get to see a very beautiful view of the lake. You can spend your first night camping there.

This day of your trekking is going to be easy for you. You can walk along the shore of the lake. There are going to be no ups and downs the whole day. You will be at this height for the whole day which will prepare you for the trek that you are going to cover on the sixth day. You will also get to see a lot of birds. Kyangdam is a very good campsite on the lake.

Follow the shore and soon you will reach the delta. After two more hours, you will reach Nurboo Sumdo and you can stay there for a night.

Walking for a while, you will be crossing the river a lot of times. It would be advisable that you cross the river in the morning only as the water level is very high. Also, the water is very cold that you will be crossing. It is better if you wear sandals. After you are done with the crossing of the river, you can easily warm up your feet by walking. As you reach, you will get to see beautiful views at the top. You can set up your camp on the river (4.635m).

Keep moving till you reach the end of the valley. After you are done with the crossing of the river, you reach a very beautiful camping ground. A lot of snow capped mountains are there. You can also see Parang la from there which also has a very beautiful view.

Tip: If you wish, you can split this one day journey into two stages by camping in Tharang Yogma.

This is going to be your toughest day. You will have to cross a river in the morning. Follow the pass upto 5.400m. It will take approximately 1.5 hours for you to cross the glacier till you reach the Parang la pass (5.578m). You will be walking on a mixture of ice and snow and you will have this feeling that you can never cross this. The view is very beautiful. Keep moving till you reach a very narrow gorge with a river. For another 1.5 hours, you will have to follow the river and also climb a valley which is 200m till you reach Tangltak (4.515m). This is the first campsite that has a water supply which makes it a very long day at trek.

The last day is not at all tiring. For 30 minutes, you will climb a pass. You can also see mountain Shilla on your left. Follow the valley and you will see a village after a couple of days. Go down and climb back for 200m till you reach a village known as Kibbar. You can find new guest houses here. You can also visit the monastery from here. If you do not want to stay, you can take a taxi to Kaza. You can also go to Manali, it takes only one day by jeep. You can also go back to Leh, it takes just 3 days.   Your Festigo Journey
