This is going to be your highest trek. A lot of river crossings are going to be there that are adventurous. You will start from Manali - Leh road. This is beautiful but it is not popular. You can escape via Phuktal Gompa to Padum

Day

Descend above Tsarap river. Follow the right bank of the river for 3 hours. The walk is easy through the willows and shrubs. Tsok Mesik is a very large area of willow. This point is also a junction that leads you to Morang la.

At the start, the walk is very easy but later as you climb, it becomes tough. There is also a cantilever bridge that will cross the river. Keep moving; also, a lot of trails are there, where you have to move accordingly. The trail meets at the crest of the next shoulder. You have to continue climbing till you climb another 4- 5 shoulders. Before you reach Satok, there will be a lot of trails which will also descend to the river and then slopes are there again through cliffs and also through waterfalls before you reach the village. Carry water with you as you will not get to fill the water bottles. There will be a stream at doksa around 5 hours but it will be dry.

While trekking to Hormoch, the trail follows the river and leads you to a gorge which is created by Tsarap chu. There are some flat plateaus, and then there are going to be some ups and downs as well. After two hours of the journey, you will pass a juniper tree and descend to the river and then walk towards Moneleh. This place is full of ruined houses. As you leave Moneleh, you again cross come across slopes. After another 1.5 hours, you come across a cantilever bridge, that will be on the right side of the Tichup and then you will cross the Zara Chu river. Move to the top and you will see flat benches leading your way to Hormoch. This place is a very small and also a deserted settlement and also between and opposite Yarshun and Marshun.

You leave Tsarap chu and enter a canyon. You again climb over a shoulder. After a traverse, you come across a number of shoulders before you reach a pond. On your west, you get to see a very beautiful view. After that you reach Nyalo Kontse la. You descend through vegetation and also a lot of tent platforms. It can take extra 1-2 hours to complete the descent near Niri Chu.

As you walk, you see Tantak, it is a small settlement. Again, you head into a narrow valley and you get to see Juniper and other flags, this area are one of remotest areas of Zanskar. You also get to see a lot of meadows. The village is an hour above the canyon. 

Follow the trail and you will get to see a lot of settlements are linked here. You have to climb to Gautang la with a slight steep as well. You will also get to see two groups of stone corrals. As you move up, you get to see beautiful views as the trail also cuts its way through the river. The path continues till you reach Lar La and then into a side valley.

You leave Lar and find Niri Chu. The trail later joins the river. You will also get to see blue sheep in this area. The crossing is quite tough here as the trail keeps on moving back and forth. The upper part of the Niri valley is beautiful. This valley splits into three parts and you take the left fork that leads you to the camp.

Follow the trail and it takes 0.5 hours to pass. As you descend from the Penak la, after 2 hours you reach the willow and you will find a good amount of water here and also some of the flat areas where you can camp. You can get to see blue sheep and also ibex.

You descend into a narrow valley which is below the camp, also there is an area of boulders before you reach willow. You again head towards downstream, you will find that the trail will cross the river around 20 times. The river is not deep unless and until there has been raining or snow, but it might be slippery and you will find it very tiring to get out again and again. It is better that you wear good footwear with the help of which you can walk as it is very essential to have one. After this, you pass Tsazar Doksa and then you reach Zangla Sumdo, this will lead you to Charcha la.

From here, you will find the trail descending and you cross the river. A number of canyons and also a lot of geological findings can be seen. As you are near to Zangla, this will happen after you complete 20 river crossings; the valley opens out for you. Later descend to Zangla. This is the nostalgic moment of the Tour when you have to bid adios to this beautiful place, knowing in your heart that one day you will come back here again. After early Breakfast, & transfer to Airport for your onward journey with memories of Your Festigo Journey.

Terms And Condition:
