Day

Time: 3 hours

The monastery in the region of Hemis is the most visited site and it is also very famous. First you need to go down and then you can travel all the way up. After that, you will have to walk along the river bed. After that you will reach the village Shang Sumdo and you will reach that place after you have crossed a lot of rivers. The place has a very beautiful campsite.

Time: 7 hours

You will have to make your way through the rocks. Then, going back all the way to the river. You reach Chukirmo, you now reach a gorge. Horses are unloaded here. You will have to cross the river a lot of times. After that, start climbing. You will get to see a beautiful camping spot called as Latza Kongmaru.

You will get to see beautiful pass over the Zanskar range. Descent is easy for the summer pastures. This is one of the most beautiful high valleys of Ladakh. After you reach Nirmaling, you will have to pass the bridge, enter into a very beautiful valley, then again cross one more bridge and go down again towards the Kang Yaze. You will get to see a lot of campsites here.

Time: 8 hours

While going up, you will have to cross a stream and a wall. Move till you see that the valley starts dividing. Go towards your right and reach the top and from there move down now. During this, you will come across your first pass which is Zalung karpo la. After that, you will come across a second pass and continue moving till you get to see a campsite.

Time: 9 hours

After reaching the camp, you move down now. A large number of stones are there. Pass this region and after 4 hours you will reach a valley that will lead you to Ruberung la. Towards the left bank, you can be into a beautiful gorge for 3 hours. Then, leave the path as it is rough for the horses. Walk for another 2 hours and then you will be at Tilum Simdo camp.

You have to pass a 900m descent. Move towards the left and you will cross a canyon. Keep on walking till you see a large junction. This place is a very good campsite.

Move along the river. It can be left or right depending on the flow of the river. Finally, the valley will turn towards its right. You will see a beautiful house and a lot of fields. Move towards your right and up towards the Zangla castle. You will get to see a ruined fortress which was once used to be a royal place. One Hungarian scholar, whose name was Cosma de Koros, spent a night here where he studied Tibetan here in the year 1823. You will have to walk for another half an hour and you will reach Zangla.

Dinner: Rice, pasta (made in Italy), pizza, noodles, boiled or fried potatoes, chapatti, momos, vegetable salads, noodle soups, several kinds of soups (mushroom, tomato, asparagus, etc.), several kinds of vegetables (cauliflower, garbage, peas, spinach) in curries or in soups, fresh fruits in summer or caned fruits salad …
