Day

After arriving at the Yangon International Airport, you will be greeted by our representative. That is followed by a drive to Bago, which is located around 76 km northeast of Yangon. Once the ancient capital of Mon Kingdom, it is famous today for its cheroot industry, which has been flourishing here for many centuries.

Your Bago sightseeing tour commences with a visit to Kya Khat Wain Monastery, which is one of the largest monasteries in Myanmar. The main attraction here is watching the monks have their lunch, which is done in a methodical way. Donations in the form of rice is also offered to the monks, It is a spectacular sight to come across. The next place which you will visit is the Shwemawdaw Pagoda. Standing at an impressive height of 98m, this stupa captivates tourists with its perpetual golden glow. It is believed that the glow of this stupa is also visible to people who are almost 10 km outside the city. Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant.

After lunch, your sightseeing tour resumes with visits to some of the popular tourist attractions in Yangon like Shwe Tha Lyaung Reclining Buddha (55m long and 15m high, it was built by the Mon People in 994 AD), the Kyaik Pun Pagoda (famous for its four gigantic Buddhas in a seated position facing in all directions) and the historical site of Kanbawzathadi Palace.Return to Yangon for dinner and overnight stay.

This day begins with an enjoyable drive to Thanlyn (Syriam). It enjoyed immense importance as a port city during the reign of Ancient Mon Dynasty and was a major trading center from 14th to 17th century. The drive to Thanlyn takes around 45 minutes and it is accessible via Thanlyn Bridge. After arriving, the first major attraction which you will visit is Kyaik Khauk Pagoda. Believed to be built around 2000 years back, it is surrounded by a number of smaller stupas. Then, make your way to Kyauk Tan and visit Yele Paya floating pagoda. It is a beautiful stupa located on an island in the river and accessible via a short boat ride. Apart from the pagoda, there are fishes like catfish in the river which you can feed.

After visiting this place, drive back to Yangon to resume your sightseeing tour. The first place which you will visit is the Botataung Pagoda. Believed to have been built by the Mon people about 2000 years back, it houses a few relics like two hairs of the Buddha. On its left side is the Bo Bo Gyui, a guardian spirit which, according to local beliefs, protects the relics of the Buddha inside the pagoda. It is believed that touching its forefinger with your forehead grants you any wishes that you may have. Your tour continues with your next stop being the Kandawgyi Park, which is basically a large green patch surrounding the Kandawgyi Lake on all sides.

Take a break from your sightseeing tour for a traditional lunch at Karaweik Palace followed by some shopping at Bogyoke Market. In the evening, make your way towards the Shwedagon Pagoda. Built around 2500 years back, it dominates Yangon’s skyline at an incredible height of 110m and contains some relics of the Buddha. Grandiose in structure and design, it is covered with hundreds of gold plates while the top is decorated with 4531 diamonds.Dinner is followed by an overnight stay at Yangon.

After breakfast, make your way towards the Chauk Htat Gyi Pagoda, which was built almost 100 years back and is famous for its huge statue of the reclining Buddha. Other pagodas which you will visit are Kabar Aye Pagoda and Buddha tooth relic. Then, you will be transferred to the Yangon International Airport to continue with your onward journey.
