Padum-Shade-Padum

Time: 3 hours

Padum, a beautiful central Zanskar plain is enveloped by astounding mountains. To start off, you need to drive to ThongdeCompa 3.450 m (11.318 ft) from where your trek will start.

Time:  7 hours 

Move up to the last 200 m to the Thongde-La 5.150 m (16.896 ft). After moving downhill for 3 hours alongside the large valley and then further 2 hours, you will be able to locate a habitable cave to the left side f bank after crossing multiple rivers. 

Time: 9 hours

After your camp walk along the lines of the large valley, you will reach a low wall area which leaves the foot of the valley and reaches the right slope of a plateau. When you continue your journey along the plateau and move down to the George which enters at right angles, you will arrive at a hut and a field. While moving down through the narrowing valley, a wooden bridge and three Chortens mark the entrance of theGeorge that will take you to the Village of Shades.

Time: 7 hours 

From the village when you follow the main valley, half hour after the three Chortens, the valley will become wide and you will be able to locate Tanlak monastery, two houses on the hill. When you go down from here, the track starts rising and remain so tillPhuktal. 

When you cross Tserap, you will find a pass from which when you go down the river, you will reach the Phuktal monastery. For that night, you will stay in Purne 3.950 m (12.959 ft).

Time: 6 hours

When you go back from Purne, after crossing the bridge, while going to left, you will find that the trail overhangs the Tsarap river. On passing the hanging, you will reach Kaydang village in around two hours. After crossing the Hamu pass below Surle village, you will reach Ichar.  Here you can enjoy the panoramic view of the snow-capped mountains. 

Time: 5 hours + 2 jeep

When you cross the left bank, after climbing a bit you will reach a tributary. On descending down to Reru, you will reach the place where the cars wait. Then till Mune Gompa 3.800 m (12.467 ft), you will come across various plain areas covered with numerous varieties of extraordinary flowers. You can visit the monastery in Mune famous for its high prayer wheel.

From Bardan to Padum 3.550 m (11.646 ft), when following the jeep track, you will see many beautiful villages on the river bank. Finally, you will reach Padum, the administrative headquarter of the Zanskar region.   Your Festigo Journey
